“Anniversary Apart” Program

Jan 27 2022 @ 7:00PM

Show is tonight at 7 pm ET! If you haven’t already, register at nyti-anniversary-apart.eventbrite.com

The storytellers you are about to meet, met each other for the first time earlier this month and collaborated together to develop their true-life tales inspired by the theme “Anniversary Apart” on the page. Tonight they take the virtual stage to step into each other’s stories and experience perspectives and identities that are not their own.

Take a look at our storytellers.

Tonight’s Stories!

A Word from Kelly Jean

On a personal note, I’m excited to announce that this show also kicks off No, YOU Tell It’s 10-Year Anniversary Season. I created this series a decade ago and found purpose in helping people share in the stories that need to be told.

Switching stories to embody each other’s racial and cultural experiences in a live performance creates the kind of empathetic connections that are essential as we enter year three of this pandemic.

Want to support 10 more years? Here are 3 great ways:

  1. SUBSCRIBE to our newsletter for updates.
  2. SHARE the No, YOU Tell It! Podcast far and wide. Available on our website and your fav podcasting platforms.
  3. DONATE through our fiscal sponsor The Field. Plus, it’s tax-deductible.

All my love,
Kelly Jean Fitzsimmons

Meet “Anniversary Apart” Storyteller Gabriela Martineau

Jan 27 2022 @ 7:00PM

Rehearsals begin tonight for No, YOU Tell It! “Anniversary Apart” – (click here to register) – each storyteller works with a theatrical director to help embody their partner’s story on the virtual stage.

Let’s meet our next storyteller, Gabriela Martineau!

Gabriela Martineau is a Chicago-based actor, wedding planner, and creative. She has been acting for the stage most of her life but has never dabbled too far into the realm of writing, until now. Her other passion, wedding planning, started as a casual side business that has quickly turned into an exhilarating and dynamic small business. She continues to enjoy acting when possible, and what is acting if not storytelling? Gaby is very excited to be involved with this group, and can’t wait to show you all what stories we’ve got cooking!

Our first show of 2022 is Thursday and it’s online so all can attend! Have you registered yet? If not, click here.

I’m so excited to introduce our first “Anniversary Apart” storyteller – Jenna Struble!

Jenna Struble (she/her) is an arts non-profit leader who likes to do fun things, help people learn and occasionally dance like she did in her childhood living room to Soul Train. Jenna has been many things in her life from a camp counselor to an arts teacher and has even held some adult-type roles like Head of Wardrobe for Cirque du Soleil, Civic Engagement Program State Director and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant. Jenna is most proud of serving others through empowering young adults and staff and helping more people discover empathy for marginalized groups.  She is also proud of transforming into some amazing roles along with writing and performing comedic and vulnerable poetry.  Jenna is the happiest when she is in a museum, seeing live performances and making things. She is currently the Executive Director for the New England Center for Circus Arts in Brattleboro, Vermont, where she lives with her spouse, Shaun and their two cats, Ellie and J.F.
